Situated in the North West region of the United States of America, the State of Idaho is known as the “Gem State” because of the vast amount of natural resources to be found there. The state’s population of around one and half million also enjoy all the fun and financial benefits of legalized gambling. Gambling in Idaho, like many of the other states, is allowed and encouraged within the boundaries of the several native Indian reservations dotted around the state. Idaho shares its borders with Washington, Oregon, Utah, Nevada, Montana, Wyoming as well as British Columbia within Canada. All of these states are hotbeds of casino activity, so Idaho has to work hard to keep its loyal players happy. Idaho is a wealthy state, earning a large percentage of its income from agriculture, especially from growing potatoes with nearly one third of all potatoes grown in the US coming from there. Science and technology industries are prominent in Idaho, with many of the service and supply companies for the computer industry being based there. To handle all of the casino action in Idaho there are a total of five casinos, situated within American Indian reservations. Idaho’s population is based around its center and especially the capitol, Boise. All of the reservations are within a relatively short car journey from the population centers. At the moment, legislature in Idaho does not allow table gambling and all the gambling action is confined to slots only. However for those who this kind of action is enough then there are many slot machines to choose from. The largest casino to be found in Idaho is the Clearwater River Casino in Lewiston. The casino is built in an area of around thirty thousand square feet, and offers a wide range of family entertainment, dining as well as a wide variety of choice in slot gambling as well as race track betting. All of the Idaho casinos are out in the open and an ideal stop of point for those on a traveling vacation. In fact at least two of the five Idaho casinos provide parking services for the many families who arrive in RV’s. There is so much to do in the many parks dotted around the state. Many of America’s national monuments are situated in Idaho, as well as the Hagerman Fossil Beds and the Simulated Craters of the Moon situated near Arco. Fly fishing is a popular activity in Idaho, and it is famous for the thrills and spills of its white water rafting. For those who prefer their leisure activities to be based around green baize, then the options are fairly obvious. Continue your journey to another one of the surrounding states, Nevada being the obvious choice and all the table action you could probably wish for is there, around the clock. You can test your skills and try your luck at blackjack, craps and roulette as well as Texas hold’em poker. If on the other hand, you would rather stay at home, then all these games are available to you on line. You can play away to your heart’s content without even having to leave home. For Idaho people that may well be an attractive proposition.

There are a lot of jokes that surround Idaho and the people who live there. One of the more popular jokes is that Idaho is actually a mythical place because it is rare that you ever meet anybody who is from that state. The truth is, however, that Idaho is a bustling state with a lot to see and do!Idaho is known country-wide as a very conservative state. In the southern part of the state there is a large Mormon population that causes many residents to joke about southern Idaho really being Northern Utah. To be sure, the college in Rexburg is where many Mormon students go when they aren’t sure they are quite ready for a four year school and BYU in Salt Lake City. The northern part of the state, however, is infamous for its white supremacist population. This population is a little less public about its actions than the southern Idaho Mormon groups. The neo-nazis and white supremacists prefer to keep their individual identities hidden. You won’t drive through town and find a local meeting hall for them. Instead, you are more likely to receive literature from one of these groups in the mail or find an independently published and printed newspaper sitting next to the town’s non-partisan paper in the news racks at the grocery store. Most Idaho citizens take a “look the other way” approach to these matters because, like all Americans, they believe in “even though I do not agree with your opinion, I’ll defend to the death your right to have it. “The Native American population is also very active all over the state. Idaho is home to several festivals for Native American tribes and the communities that surround them are very supportive of these festivals and their residents. In spite of a couple of large extreme populations (both religious and not) Idaho can be quite a nice place to live and work. The state is far enough inland that there are four definite seasons, and none of them are very extreme. There is some snow in the northern parts of the state, particularly at higher elevations, but for the most part, Idaho is very livable! One of the things that most Idaho residents love is the easy access to the outdoors. Unlike other states in the Western US, Idaho citizens have no interest in building large metropolitan areas. The people here like to keep their lot sizes big and open and shop locally whenever possible. Idaho has fishing, hiking, horseback riding and a very active Fish and Wildlife Department. The southern part of Idaho has more of a desert feel, but there are still plenty of things to do!When it comes to the physical environment, many people joke that the state often feels like driving through a person with split personalities. Up north are the beautiful mountains and lakes of Coeur d’Alene and down south is the dryness of Boise. No matter what your personal preferences might be for environment, you will find them somewhere in Idaho! For more information on Boise, Idaho, visit http://www. boisemicroblog. com and http://www. idahomicroblog. com.

Idaho is a very diverse state when it comes to geography since they feature everything from forests to deserts with sand dunes. Many visitors come to Idaho each year to take part in a number of recreational activities that the state has to offer from everything between skiing to whitewater rafting. However, one aspect of Idaho that many aren’t aware of is that Idaho also offers excellent historical attractions for the history buffs. The capital of Idaho is Boise which is in southwestern part of the state. This is an excellent location for recreation with the Bogus Basin Ski Resort. However there are excellent indoor sights and attractions with a historical theme. This includes a small replica of the Capitol in Washington DC which can be found at the Idaho State Capitol. You can take a walk around the Old Boise Historic District which still has many of the original attributes so you can see what the cities history was like in person. Other attractions in this city include the Boise Art Museum, the Idaho Farm and Ranch Museum and the Zoo Boise. Another excellent city to visit in Idaho is Coeur d’Alene which allows you to get access to some excellent countryside views with more lakes than any western state in the United States. This county also offers over eight different parks and campgrounds with over forty-seven hiking trials and outdoor activities for those who want to do activities such as fishing, golfing, skiing, horseback riding and rafting. Just outside of the city there is Silverwood which is the largest theme park in the Northwest for the family travelers. Coeur d’Alene also features the Art Spirit Gallery, the Museum of North Idaho and the Summer Theatre Carrousel Players. One of the best accommodations in Idaho is the Grove Hotel which has excellent amenities and is connected to the Bank of America Center which offers many sports and entertainment options for travelers. The Owyhee Plaza is an excellent option for those who are looking for a historic hotel. The majority of your accommodation options are found in the area around the airport. Within three miles you will be able to find a large selection of reasonably priced hotels such as the Inn America, Comfort Inn Airport and Extended Stay America. In Coeur d’Alene an excellent accommodation is the Coeur d’Alene Resort which is on the western edge of the downtown area. This has been known as one of the best mainland resorts in the United States. During the high summer season the rates are a bit expensive. If you are looking for something a little cheaper then you can check out the La Quinta Inn and Suites, the Best Western Coeur d’Alene Inn and the Shilo Inn which are all excellent accommodation options for travelers to Idaho.

Short ones, tall ones, fat ones, skinny ones, good ones, bad ones, sad ones, happy ones. The list could go on and on forever, and starts to sound like a Dr. Seuss story. Like in any profession, you will find a wide variety of people who fit into the Sandpoint Idaho real estate agents category. They are professionals who are there to serve clients buy and sell real estate, and there are a lot of them. Sandpoint Idaho is a happy place. Good schools, modern shopping, beautiful scenery and lots of recreational opportunities. Some quick research reveals that there are hundreds of Sandpoint Idaho real estate agents. Since North Idaho is such a great place to live it makes sense that there would be plenty of professionals to help people come and go. Some agents focus on transactions in raw land, others on homes, others on commercial. Any prospective buyer or seller can find an agent to help them with what they need. If you are more comfortable dealing with a nationally franchised real estate company you can easily find that. If you’d rather work with a smaller, more private agency, you can do that as well. No matter what your preference, Sandpoint, Idaho real estate agents are going to be able to help make your real estate goals and dreams come true. Here is a list of some of the agencies in or near Sandpoint, just to name a few: Century 21 RiverStone Real Estate Maiden Rock Real Estate Dover Bay Real Estate CM Brewster & Co Real Estate Windermere Real Estate/Idaho First Realty, Inc Remax All Season Real Estate Four Seasons Real Estate Lake Country Real Estate Dover ID Real Estate Evergreen-RealtyNow let’s face it, some people make good agents and others don’t. I have experienced both good and bad Sandpoint Idaho real estate agents. Years ago, when I was renting a house that was on the market, I had a situation that bugs me to this day. The real estate agent came to the house when we weren’t home to show it to a prospective buyer. For whatever reason he didn’t have a way in to the main house, but knew that there was a key in the garage / shop. He had his little boy with him so he got creative. An open window in the shop area allowed him to lower his kid into the room, and unfortunately down on to a balsa wood RC airplane that I had been building. The kid stepped on the wing and broke a piece off. They got what they needed and left, leaving me a little note that said, “No key, got one from shop, sorry about plane. ” I called him about it and he told me that’s what happens sometimes. That’s it! No apology, no offer to remunerate me. I lost some respect that day for that agent. But, I realize that not all Sandpoint, Idaho real estate agents are that way by any means. In fact, one of the best business experiences I’ve ever had came from working with an agent that was a real pro. She constantly kept us informed, did everything possible to ease our concerns and stresses along the way through negotiations, and in the end even gave us some wonderful house warming gifts. If I were buying or selling real estate in the Sandpoint area, and needed an agent today, I would do some careful research first. I would consider the Sandpoint Idaho real estate agents, their reputations, how satisfied previous clients are, and then pick one that I trusted and thought would be energetic in working to assist me in my goals.

8/3/2009 With August quickly approaching, we are certainly in the dog days of summer. It’s easy to head out to the lake and cast out hundreds of times pulling nothing out but weeds or 4 oz fish. Now is the time to think…DEEP. Due to the increasing water temp, it is important to press out to 25-30 feet deep. It is here where you will find the lunker you are looking for. Currently, Smallmouth Bass in Northern Idaho Lakes such as Lake Coeur d’Alene (particularly Cougar Bay and the Chain Lakes area), Hayden, Cocolalla, Preist, and Pond Oreille are hitting Twin Tail Grubs on a football jig bounced on the bottom. Colors such as cinnamon with black fleck, or smoke with black fleck are garnering bites. Work a bounce and slow retrieve motion, and don’t be afraid to let it rest on the bottom for 3-4 seconds at a time. In stained water, stick to chartreuse or white. Make sure to lookout for long points, or changes from rocky shoreline to sand. Finally, look for drop offs of 7-8 feet or more. These drop-offs will generally hold bass throughout the late summer pattern. Finally, Smallmouth Bass love rocks and boulders. Take the time to know your lake floor. Look for easy access routes to cover or deeper water. Most of all, vary your retrieve pattern until you find the one that gets the aggressive bites. Remember, a slow day on the lake is better than a good day at work. So take your time, have fun, and land that lunker Smallmouth.
