Do Real Estate Agents Get Paid On Only Commission Or Is There A Salary As Well?

I am looking into changing careers and do have an interest in real estate. Does anyone do this for a living or know if real estate agents get paid a salary at all or if everything is solely based on commissions from selling a house.

I live in North Idaho, and i’ve been trying to find ways to improve recycling, and waste management in my high school. I hope to be able to do some community clean up, We live in a 2000 person town so it wouldn’t be too hard. If I could find a group that could support me and my friends that would be great. There’s the ski resort.
Even in the summer, there’s a lift that runs so as to allow bikers, etc. to get to the top of the mountain.
There’s a dam nearby, but it’s not very exciting.

Otherwise, it’s a small town with typical small town things to do.
